Organized and eager to take on new responsibilities: Brandi Berryman, Dungarvin Reno Office Manager
“Everyone is always willing to lend a helping hand,” says Brandi Berryman, Reno Office Manager. “We support each other and give it our all to provide the supports needed.” Brandi has been with Dungarvin just over two and a half years after being introduced to the industry through her best friend, who is a DSP! Take a look at Brandi’s story below and get to know her a bit more through ‘5 questions with Brandi Berryman:’
1. Why do you have a passion for this work – how so?
The people we work with keep me going, from DSPs to service coordinators. The work we all do helps some amazing people we serve to be able to live their best lives. I love the Host Home model we support. The people get so much more out of life this way.
2. What characteristic – or adjective – would people use to describe you?
I would say I’m organized.
3. What would you most like to see happen in your state to better serve people with disabilities?
More support! More Host Homes, more Program Directors, more funding (what our providers do is beyond amazing and they deserve more benefits. There are so many more people out there that could use the supports we offer.
4. Who are your heroes in life and why?
My dad, because even at 72 he still chooses to work full time to stay busy. He has always been active and healthy. Then I have to say the providers and my Dungarvin team. Everyone always puts in everything to help support everything we do to support the people we serve.
5. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
In my work life I would have to say… being promoted to office manager without expecting it. In my personal life… My children and grandchildren, but have to say my oldest grandson is my greatest achievement. He was having a rough start to life, instead of letting him go into the system I took guardianship in September of 2022. He is now four and half and such an amazing little man, with such a great personality. He used to not associate with anyone other than parents and me, now talk to everyone about everything. People that knew him before say “WOW” he is such a different little person. :)
