Anna Hegland, Minnesota Senior Director, was honored and touched as family, friends and colleagues came together to celebrate her 15 years with the organization last night in Mendota Heights, Minnesota. Tears were shed and laughter ringed throughout the room as we demonstrated our appreciation for her immense contributions to the Dungarvin organization.

The evening was a moving tribute filled with cherished memories of Anna and the relationships she’s forged as a hands-on leader and mentor. Senior Directors Jen Elleraas and Karen Hammond, Director of Acute Behavioral Services Heather Golden, Chief Risk Officer Paul Smith, as well as Karin Stockwell, Central Regional Director, were among the many who gave speeches that showed their deep and heartfelt appreciation for Anna. The Minnesota Operations team even put together a presentation that had the whole room smiling – leaving others in sentimental tears. “You are about our persons served and you are about our mission,” said Karen Hammond.

There were some heartwarming surprises as well! Both direct care staff and persons supported sent in videos sharing their appreciation for Anna. One of the persons supported (pictured below) has been at the Dungarvin Hiawatha home for 24 years and still talks about Anna all the time.

“I’ve been so fortunate to have had such an amazing work family over the last fifteen years,” shared Anna. “I’ve been surrounded by intelligent, compassionate and creative people who have all helped me learn and grow. I truly appreciate the experiences and the opportunities Dungarvin has given me over the years.” One of these opportunities is her role leading the ARRM advocacy organization as president. Anna took on this additional responsibility in June of 2024. ARRM’s mission is to advocate for, inform and support Minnesota organizations serving people in the disability and mental health communities.

Anna, thank you for your 15 years of dedication to Dungarvin and this industry. You’re an advocate for others and a thoughtful leader. Dungarvin is so thankful for you!
